About Me.

I'm a UK Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years experience working in finance and accounting. My diverse range of experience means I'm well-suited to helping you take your business to the next level. My background includes:

10 years in Top 5 accounting practice
5 years in a global business
8 years in start-up to scale-up video games studios

My Story

After years spent working in corporate environments, I needed a change. In 2016, I joined a small video game developer and publisher. I set up the finance team and helped them to grow from 25 people to 125. I love the games industry and have remained in it ever since.

As I entered the 2nd half of 2024, it felt like it was time to try something new again. Growth Curve Finance was set up to enable me to get out there and work with a number of growing businesses.

Examples of expertise and achievements

Raising investment

I've helped a number of business raise money, either EIS, seed round or series A stage. Managing the datarooms, flow of information, and providing financial plans to the investors.

Finance function setup

I joined a growing business as their first full-time finance hire and put in place the entire finance back office, as well as contributing to the wider business operations environment. Everything from transactional processing through management accounts, HMRC returns, annual compliance, forecasting and long-range planning.

Modelling expertise

I have created 3-way fully integrated models for project return on investment appraisals, quarterly re-forecasting exercises, annual budgets and 3-year plans. Having easy-to-use and reliable financial models has proved invaluable in every business that I've been involved with.

EMI schemes

Implemented EMI and unapproved share option schemes at two UK businesses. Successful share valuations (VAL231) with HMRC, maximising share option value for the team.

Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS)

Successful application for EIS status as a knowledge-intensive business. EIS investment by a number of high-net worth individuals.

Audit excellence

Took a company and subsidiaries through five years of statutory audits with no audit adjustments identified in that period. Due to pressing needs for tax credits, audits were completed and accounts fully signed off within 2 months of the financial year-end.

Maximising tax credits

Ten successful corporation tax submissions (CT600) with no HMRC enquiries. Yielding in excess of £5m in tax credits payable by HMRC in cash.
